BRANDING CONCEPT FOR A FOLK-ROCK BAND
The purpose of this project was to create a a brand identity for a fictional folk-rock style band of my own creation, DaffoDolls.
The name DaffoDolls is a play on my favorite flower, daffodils. I wanted to create a folk-rock girl group, and the juxtaposition of grunge elements like textured hand-drawn type and bold line imagery with a delicate flower like the daffodil made sense. Daffodils are perennial flowers, requiring just one planting as they return year after year on their own. I deeply admire the resilience and persistence embodied by the daffodil.
Linocut was used to create the artwork for the DaffoDolls, Perennial Tour. The daffodils were carved into a rubber block, then pressed onto paper, then scanned into Photoshop, where the signature periwinkle blue color was added.
